MIEC wishes to welcome all students back to term 2. After a restful break, it is time to get back to school and focus on studying English. There are some exciting activities this term including the school athletics carnival and other excurisons. Our homework centre is also running on Tuesdays after school to assist students in revising their classwork and consolidate their learning. Have a wonderful term MIEC students!

2019 Term 1 Student Representative Council

Congratulations to the newly elected Student Representative Council (SRC). All IEC students voted for their representatives in class. The SRC will be a voice for their fellow students and participate in leadership initiatives to fundraise for charities.

2019 school budget allocations

Like all NSW public schools, this week we will receive a School Budget Allocation Report with our funding for 2019. The report will help us manage our total budget delivered through the Resource Allocation Model (RAM).

The RAM supports schools through needs-based funding to ensure a fair, efficient and transparent allocation of funds. Our school has the flexibility to make local decisions based on the specific needs of our students.

We will use our 2019 funding to support students and improve educational outcomes. The school executive will continue to work with the school community as we implement the school plan using this needs-based funding.

Science Festival

Level 2 and 3 students went to the Science Festival at the Australian Museum. Students investigated and explored the amazing world of science including chemistry, forensic science and natural science. It was a day filled with fun and knowledge.

Romeo and Juliet at the Sydney Opera House

Level 2 and 3 students watched the Bell Shakespeare production of Romeo and Juliet at the Sydney Opera House. This was an opportunity for the students to watch the Shakespearean tragedy enacted on a world famous stage.

Jean for Genes Day Fundraise Lunch

Welcome Back to Term 3

Welcome back to all MIEC students for term 3, 2018. Term 3 will be a busy and exciting term at MIEC. Students will be visiting the Australian Museum for the National Science Week. Selected students will be watching a Shakespearean theatre performance at the Sydney Opera House. We will be having some cool native visitors (lizards, snakes etc) from the Reptile Show incursion. Additionally, everyone will be participating in the weekly National Football League (Australian football) training session. So come to school and be prepared to learn and have fun! Every day is a great day at MIEC!

NSW State Parliament

Level 3 students visited NSW State Parliament and Botanical Gardens to learn about government and Australian history. The students role played in Upper and Lower Houses and learned about the Australian government. After lunch, the students went on a guided tour at the Botanical Gardens to learn about indigenous plants and the first settlement.

Multicultural Writer's Program

Cross Country Carnival

On Monday, we attended the MHS and MIEC Cross Country Carnival. Some students ran up to 7.5 kilometres, and many IEC students placed in their top 10 for their age group. We finished the day off with a BBQ hosted by the SRC students. Well done students. What a fantastic day!

MIEC extends a warm welcome back to all for term 2, 2018. Everyone has settled in quickly at MIEC and are working hard on developing their English language skills. Term 2 will be another exciting term at MIEC. Students will be attending the Cross Country Carnival and the IEC Australian Football League Cup. Selected students will also participate in the Multicultural Playwright Program. Every day is a great day at MIEC!

Featherdale Wildlife Park

Level 2 Sydney Observatory Excursion

Level 2 students had a great day visiting the Sydney Observatory. The students have been learning about the Solar System this term and they used their knowledge to participate in fun activities at the Sydney Observatory.

Swim School

Summer is here! MIEC students are making the most of summer in Sydney by going to swim school to improve their swimming skills and learn about water safety. The two week Learn to Swim Program is designed to give students confidence in water so they can enjoy themselves at the beach or the swimming pool.

MIEC extends a warm welcome to all for 2018. We have welcomed another group of students this term from all over the world. They have all settled in quickly at MIEC and are already working hard on developing their language skills. 2018 will be another exciting year at MIEC. Students will be observing the universe at the Sydney Observatory. We also have our Special Swimming Scheme, through the scheme each student undertakes an intensive 2 week learn to swim program equipping them with water safety skills. Finally, MIEC will visit Cockatoo Island for the 21^st Biennale of Sydney – an international festival of contemporary art.
