Marrickville Intensive English Centre (MIEC) school Counsellor Ms Nicola Turnbull, is at the school on three days a week. The school counsellor offers psychological services for the school, working with teachers, parents and students.
The school counsellor works to support students by providing specialised programs:
- The "Settling In" program: which discusses the feelings and experiences of settling into a new country and provides information and discussion to help students adapt to life in Australia.
- The "Drumbeat" program: that helps students to develop relationship and communication skills.
Students, parents or guardians can come and speak with the school counsellor and any of their discussions can remain confidential unless there are child protection concerns.
